Local residents, teachers, and rehabilitation experts came together on Wednesday, September 27 at the first Miracle League of Greater Flint (MLGF) Town Hall meeting at Genesys Banquet and Conference Center in Grand Blanc. The purpose of the meeting was to listen to community stakeholders about their ideas for the proposed Miracle League field.
MLGF Board members Brian Caine, Kay Doerr, Sophia Bong, and Jen Hogan listened as people made suggestions for ways that the field and the park could be built to be fully accessible for all people. Ideas ranged from increasing parking space sizes to make room for vans with ramps for wheelchairs access, to providing charging stations for people who need to charge oxygen tanks. One attendee suggested private restrooms so those who need space and privacy to fully lay down can have the type of facility that they need.
Doerr also announced to the crowd that Mundy Township is awaiting word from the Department of Natural Resources on a grant that would provide funding for the installation of a new entrance to the proposed park.
